GurumNetworks contributed to the commercialization of outdoor autonomous driving robots by providing GurumDDS to ROBOTIS, a Korean robot solution company.
ROBOTIS delivers lunch with more than 20 robots deployed in January 2021.
It will be held for office workers in Magok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, and for the first time in Korea, more than 20 robots will be deployed to deliver lunch. Customers who use the service can pre-order and pay through the "Food Ticket Register" app, and receive information on the delivery process of self-driving robots, such as location of delivery robots, delivery information, and food arrival notifications.
The robot, which is used for delivery, completed safety verification from the Korea Robot Industry Promotion Agency in December last year as the second model of "Work Ant", which combines functions specialized in food delivery to commercialize robot delivery.
ROBOTIS' outdoor autonomous robots use GurumNetworks' GurumDDS, GurumDDS RMW and GurumDDS RS to minimize data loss in WAN environments and efficiently send and receive data needed for multiple trips in real time. This autonomous robot can be used both indoors and outdoors and can be operated by LTE/5G communication.
GurumDDS, which is used for autonomous robots, allows the robot to send and receive data in real time, enabling autonomous driving. To connect the robot with the DDS, we used the GurumDDS RMW that was officially uploaded to ROS2.
For LTE/5G communication, the GurumDDS' QoS is also available in WAN environments using GurumDDS RS (Routing Service).
